Article summary

Document Automation is similar to batching notices, in that you can set certain triggers to have a document template automatically generate as well as auto-email that document to the respective borrower(s) email associated with the loan.

Required: Custom Document Template add-on module.
Contact Bryt Support to have it enabled for a specific user account.

*Only available for Bryt Business version users and above.

To access this, navigate to the Admin tab, and click on the 'Document Templates' tab in the left-hand column.

Setting Things Up

From there you'll want to have a list of templates. To do this, you should see the available list of templates by clicking here, then follow the custom documents add-on module guide to learn how to upload your template. Alternatively, you can download the Merge Template Instructions using the button shown in the image above to learn how to create your own Merge Document Template. You can also edit an existing document template for your specific needs.

Automating a Document Template
To start this process, you'll want to click on the 'Automate' button for an existing (previously uploaded) document template. For this guide, we're going with the 'PayoffStatementDetailed.docx' document.
For this guide, we'll be going with document automation set to the 'When a Loan is Created' trigger.

In the next prompt, you'll set the days after the trigger event to generate the selected document. For our guide, we'll set it to '0' to generate on the same day as the trigger.
The other option is to automatically email the generated document to the associated borrower for the loan by either selecting the default 'No' or 'Yes' from the drop-down menu. We will go with 'No' to not automatically email these documents out.

Once you're satisfied with the settings for the document automation, click 'Done'.

Note: The image below shows how the list will appear after a document is generated. Since the template was used to generate a document, you are no longer able to delete the document template, but you can Download the template, edit it, and reupload it using the 'Update' button.

You'll be able to access the generated document by going to the respective loan that you expected to trigger the generation of the document, then going to the Documents tab on the left-hand list, and clicking on the desired Doc or Pdf version of the generated document.
The result is the following document with populated loan data from the database. In our example, we set a closing date of 1/1/2022, $100,000, at 12% and everything else was left at its default.

To automatically email documents, you can follow the same steps and simply select the 'Yes' option when asked whether or not to auto-email the document. When selecting 'Yes' you'll see additional fields to set an Email Subject and Email Body.

After setting your Email Subject and Body, you'll want to click 'Done' to save the document automation settings for this custom document you've configured.
When the borrower receives this email, they'll get an email with the Email Subject and Body you set up with the custom document included as an attachment on that email. You can test this by creating a test contact (make sure to include an email, preferably one that isn't used for your Bryt account/login) and a test loan (newly created loan after setting the document automation trigger) with the custom document to trigger 'At loan creation' and see how the borrower would receive it.
